COLLABORATE 18 // Plus 7 Lucky Tips

Ah! Springtime in Las Vegas. One of the best times of the year to try a Big Bus tour, maybe check out Wayne Newton’s Casa de Shenandoah, or – and this is perhaps our favorite idea – hang out with the STR Software team at COLLABORATE 18 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 22-26.

If COLLABORATE is on the top of your to-do list, here are a few ways you can connect with STR Software while you’re there. Plus, check below for our Pro Tips for New Attendees.

Session: Learn how to transition to Cloud with a hybrid strategy

Join Guy DeFlorio, CTO of Mutual Materials, and Ted Chappell, Product Manager for STR Software, as they present about syncing data between on-prem to cloud applications in a hybrid IT infrastructure. This exciting presentation will review how Mutual Materials explored their need to integrate on-prem data with Cloud applications, the challenges they faced, the solution implemented, as well as the results and future plans to expand their hybrid approach. To hear more about the implementation and how simple the integration experience can be, make sure to attend the session:

Come swing by the STR Software Booth – #1525 to chat with Kevin Kennedy and Jack Crowder about our AventX product suite for Oracle EBS and JD Edwards. Not only does our AventX product line provide email tracking of Oracle reports and simplified printer management, but it also offers products to make asset maintenance easier through mobile and IoT/data-driven tools.

Be sure to check out our newest product, DataVaya, offering cost-effective, automated data file transfer with the intelligence and control needed to move your data where it needs to go. Whether you need to sync data between your on-prem ERP and Cloud applications, import banking data into your financial system, or pull sensor data into your manufacturing or asset maintenance system, DataVaya can provide you an easy and succinct way to transfer your data to its destination.

New to COLLABORATE?

We’ve had the pleasure of attending COLLABORATE every year for the past decade and would consider ourselves veterans. We want you to have the same great experience – here are some of our top tips that can help maximize your time during the show.

1. Ditch the brochures and download the COLLABORATE 18 app on your phone.

With almost 1,200 education sessions and 500 exhibitors to see, getting around the show can get pretty hectic. This app will give you a map of the floorplan, updated agenda, and personal schedule – everything you need to manage your time for the show will be in the palm of your hands. You can visit here to start your custom agenda or just search COLLABORATE 18 in your App Store or Google Play Store.

2. Session fatigue…it’s a thing, avoid it

As we’ve mentioned, there are hundreds of sessions to attend. You can’t make them all but taking a few minutes for yourself in between a session or two will save you from succumbing to session burnout. A little downtime will let you catch up on your email inbox, give you a few extra minutes to network one-on-one or with an exhibitor, or just treat yourself to some delicious desserts.

3. Network with experts to find your answers

The show is called COLLABORATE for a reason! Look for networking opportunities with industry leaders and developers. Ask your questions to Oracle experts and speakers directly. Talk to other users about their integration experience and what lessons they learned. Your goal is to take back invaluable answers that can’t easily be found online. Also don’t forget to use the hashtag #C18LV in any of your conference experience so that your conversations can be followed.

4. If you rented a car, add extra time to return it

If you picked-up a rental, you’ll probably recall that the McCarran Rent-A-Car Center isn’t right on the airport grounds. So, be sure to add a few extra minutes to drop-off your vehicle and take the shuttle. The shuttle runs every 5 minutes but can take up to 10 minutes to get you where you need to be.

A Few Fun Tips to help you through the Week

5. It’s not all about business

We are in Vegas after all COLLABORATE does an incredible job keeping the energy high throughout the day such as the Main Street Games, happy hours, and good food. But check out the show’s beach-themed closing party at the Mandalay Bay Beach. Don’t forget to pack your Hawaiian shirt and bring your conference badge for entrance!

6. Vegas = Food

COLLABORATE does a pretty good job of keeping you fed with the coffee breaks, lunch, and receptions. But, hopefully, you will save some room for one of the many restaurants. Some of our staff favorites include Stripburger, Citizens Kitchen & Bar, Nacho Daddy, and Bacchanal Buffet.

7. Check Groupon, Living Social, or other discount sites

Speaking of food. You can often times find a good deal on restaurants and activities on Groupon or another discount coupon site. Plus, you don’t really need to plan ahead. Most of the time you can find the deal you want, purchase the coupon, and then use it within a few minutes. So don’t forget to check online for some discounts on that tour to the Hoover Dam – which is absolutely worth seeing, if we may add.

See you in Las Vegas!
