Companies Jump to Eliminate Fax Hardware in Favor of ‘Fax over IP’

Fax over IP technology continues to grow as a popular alternative for organizations wishing to eliminate fax server hardware and virtualized their fax environments. Recently, three STR Software customers, Jeweler’s Board of Trade, Trinity Health Holy Cross and Lakeshore Learning Materials, chose to replace their existing fax server hardware by utilizing the software-based SR140 fax software and leveraging their VoIP infrastructures for fax.
The advantages of FoIP include substantial cost savings over hardware-based fax servers, centralized management of telephony services, support of virtualization initiatives, and nearly unlimited scalability. FoIP technology also allows organizations to set up intelligent inbound routing to route faxed documents to a variety of locations based on DID or other criteria.
