Sales Consultant

Job Description:

The Sales Consultant (SC) is responsible for selling products and services for STR Software. Selling is performed primarily from STR Software’s office in Richmond using phone cold calls, fax and email. The SC identifies prospects, moves them through the sales process from proposal to purchase order, monitors installation and maintains the relationship through routine follow-up contacts. Applicants must have outstanding written, verbal and persuasion skills. Computer, software and technology sales experience will be given preference.

Responsibilites:
  • Understand the advantages of our products and services, and how they benefit our customers.
  • Develop knowledge of the software marketplace and competitive products.
  • Sell to targeted subsets of the database based on product, application, industry and region.
  • Prospect for opportunities by searching various electronic digests, printed materials, lists etc. Schedule technical discussions, teleconferences, and participate in webinar demonstrations.
  • Evaluate customer needs & create proposals to address those needs.
  • Coordinate the efforts of internal resources from each of the departments within STR Software including Administration, Development, Marketing, Sales and Services and Support as necessary to sell solutions.
  • Work with the Technical Services Department to monitor installation.
  • Maintain relationships with installed customers through routine follow-up contacts to explore new opportunities. Contact customers prior to annual support contract expiration for renewal and other up-selling activities.
  • Perform a minimum of ten hours per week of individual telephone-time selling.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information in the company sales database (ACT).
  • Perform weekly and monthly activity reports and forecasts of projected sales.
Other Activities
  • Work with Management Team on lead generation marketing programs based on a variety of customer-driven factors. (promotions, direct mail, tradeshows, literature, presentations, press releases, case studies, webinars, etc.)
  • Minimal travel may be required to visit customers or attend industry trade shows.
  • Participate in regular training sessions at STR Software.
  • Participate in the evaluation and development of current and new product opportunities. Make recommendations based on interactions with customers and prospects.
This person reports to the Sales Manager.

Compensation
